Police Oversight Victim of Budget Cuts

Sacramento County DA cuts police oversight budget

This, of course, is a discouraging sign and clearly diminishes some of the strides that have been made in this jurisdiction toward the establishment of a sound police oversight process. It does come at a time when police departments across the United States are grappling with severe budget cuts with many of them reducing the number of officers in their authorized strength. However, strong civilian oversight should somehow be shielded from the fiscal challenges if police organizations are going to maintain their public credibility and trust.
