Chicago police learn to be alert to human trafficking

This link to an article in the "Chicago Tribune" is a clear indication that police departments need to be particularly vigilant about the presence of human trafficking in their communities:

Chicago police taught to be alert to signs of human trafficking

In this instance, the Chicago PD, attorneys and other are being schooled on tell-tale signs that individuals involved in prostitution are actually the victims of human traffickers. This is a departure from the conventional stance which views prostitutes as people engaged in criminal activity.

It is useful to see this different perspective being brought to the fore and it is likely that Canadian cities and their police departments will follow this example.
